Our Story
Nestled just inland of the iconic South Devon Heritage Coast is the home of fifth generation farmer Tom Darke, his wife Liv, their children Bertie, George & Bridget as well as their herds of dairy and beef cattle.
Their passion for family and sustainability being pivotal to their farming life, Tom & Liv have grown the campsite on these same foundations. Cool Cow Camping was first established in 2019 and is the diversification of their farming business, offering pop up camping for the summer months with a back-to-basics approach. The campsite has grown greatly from their first few seasons, but the simplicity remains.
The site offers escapism from the modern world with bare root essentials and rustic facilities of compost toilets, hot showers (heated with a simple but effective gas heating system) and an honesty shop supplying local produce. Being a totally off grid site situated in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, guests can totally “switch off” under the starry skies and reconnect with nature.
Staying on a traditional farm gives plenty of chances to marvel at the cows grazing neighbouring pastures during your stay. Listen closely to the hive of wildlife in the Marsh Land as the sun sets over the sea. At Cool Cow Camping the simplicity of enjoying nature will bring your family a renewed sense of joy at the simple things life offers.
Enjoy days on the sandy shore at South Milton Sands, exploring rock pools and building castles under the sun. Take the coast path over to Thurlestone or Hope Cove to discover hidden gems and adventures to be taken. There is an abundance of family fun to be had just a stone’s throw from Cool Cow Camping.

The campsite offers compost toilets, hot showers, washing-up areas, and recycling facilities. Firepits and BBQs are allowed, except during extreme dry weather.
